Manufactured Gas Plant | MGP

What is Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) Management?

In the 1800s, the gas that was used for heating and lighting was manufactured from substances like coal and oil. The facilities where this occurred are called manufacturing gas plants (MGPs). Many of the byproducts from gas production were usable, but the ones that were not were disposed of or stored on site. Over time, those byproducts often leached out of their containers and contaminated the soil and groundwater. Now, site owners are often liable for cleaning it up, and bring in contractors like Cascade for MGP management services.
